Walk it out. |
|
| |
| |
"Now
that you know these things, you will be blessed if you
do them." JOHN
13:17 (NIV) |
|
| |
|
What
does God expect from us?
The
Bible is absolutely filled with God's commands
to not just "consume" His Word, but
to get up and "put feet to our faith"
— to back up with our actions
what we say we believe with our mouths.
Let's round out this month's Bible study
by "scouring the Word" for what God
has to say...
The
Treasury
of Scripture Knowledge ,
included with four out of our five PC Study
Bible library packages, is an invaluable
tool when you're looking for a group of Scriptures
about the same topic. From my key passage, John
13:17, Treasury instantly provided the
related verses listed in the chart below: |

|
| |
| [note:
this would be a great list to choose some
memory verses from!] |

from my foundation Scripture (John 13:17)
, I used The Treasury of Scripture
Knowledge to quickly find additional
passages containing the same thought. |

Next,
PC Study Bible's Appendable

the verses I found, then paste them

| Ps.
19:11 |
11
By them is your servant warned; in keeping them
there is great reward. |
| Ps.
119:1-5 |
1
Blessed are they whose ways are blameless, who walk
according to the law of the LORD. 2 Blessed are
they who keep his statutes and seek him with all
their heart. 3 They do nothing wrong; they walk
in his ways. 4 You have laid down precepts that
are to be fully obeyed. 5 Oh, that my ways were
steadfast in obeying your decrees! |
| Ezek
36:27-28 |
27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you
to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. |
| Matt
7:24 |
24
"Therefore everyone who hears these words
of mine and puts them into practice is like a
wise man who built his house on the rock.
|
| Matt
12:50 |
50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven
is my brother and sister and mother. |
| Matt
22:38-40 |
38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39
And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as
yourself.' 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang
on these two commandments." |
| Luke
12:47 |
47
That servant who knows his master's will and does
not get ready or does not do what his master wants
will be beaten with many blows.
|
| John
15:14 |
14 You are my friends if you do what I command. |
| 2
Cor 5:14 |
14 For Christ's love compels us, because we are
convinced that one died for all, and therefore all
died. |
| Gal
5:6 |
6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision
has any value. The only thing that counts is faith
expressing itself through love. |
| Heb
11:7-8 |
7
By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet
seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family.
By his faith he condemned the world and became
heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place
he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed
and went, even though he did not know where he
was going. |
| James
1:25 |
25 But the man who looks intently into the perfect
law that gives freedom, and continues to do this,
not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it-he
will be blessed in what he does. |
| James
2:20-24 |
20
You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith
without deeds is useless? 21 Was not our ancestor
Abraham considered righteous for what he did when
he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You
see that his faith and his actions were working
together, and his faith was made complete by what
he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that
says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited
to him as righteousness," and he was called
God's friend. 24 You see that a person is justified
by what he does and not by faith alone.
|
| James
4:17 |
17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to
do and doesn't do it, sins. |

Lastly,
I wanted to print these verses on a single sheet so I
could remember to meditate on them during my daily study
time. With the easy-to-use copy and print functions of
PC Study Bible's Appendable
Clipboard ,
I was done in a couple easy steps... |

| ACTION
STEP: Walk it Out |
 |
|
|
| On
the same index card as your memory verse,
write down your own specific "action
step" for how you plan to "walk
out" the principle which that verse teaches. |
| As
you meditate on that verse during the week,
ask God for opportunities to act on the Word
He is instilling in your heart. |
